This heavy duty cylindrical grinding machine is built for stock removal as much as for size: a high-power wheelhead, a wide wheel and a rigid bed let it rough and finish large forged or hardened shafts in one setup, replacing a separate hard-turning or rough-grinding step.

Workpiece Range

Forged and hardened shafts, spindles and rollers from Ø60–600mm and 2–4 meters between centers, in alloy steel, case-hardened steel and cast iron, typically supplied with 1–3mm of stock on diameter after turning or forging.

Roughing and Finishing in One Setup

A heavy roughing pass followed by semi-finish and finish passes removes the allowance while the part stays on the same centers. Finish roundness holds to ≤0.005mm, which reflects the part size; a lighter final pass and spark-out time are what bring it down to that figure.
