Intro

The taper grinding machine is built for external and internal tapers where the angle and the contact with a mating gauge decide acceptance — Morse and tool-holder tapers, spindle noses, mandrels and valve cones — rather than only diameter and roundness.

Angle tolerance grades follow ISO 1119 (AT3, AT4 and so on) and get tighter as the taper gets longer; give us the taper standard and length so we can confirm the grade is achievable.

How Taper Accuracy Is Checked

A taper gauge with marking blue shows contact length and position, while a sine bar or CMM confirms the angle and diameter at a reference plane. The program is corrected from those results, and compensation is stored so repeat parts need less trial grinding.
